Capricorn
Originating in the constellation of Capricornus, Latin for ” the horned goat”, Capricorn [मकर (Makara) meaning “crocodile”; quality Chara (movable)] is the tenth astrological sign and spans the 270-300 degree of the zodiac. In Chinese astronomy, the constellation Capricornus lies in The Black Tortoise of the North, the Black Tortoise is one of the four symbols of the Chinese constellations. The constellation was first attested in depictions on a cylinder-seal from around the 21st century BCE and is explicitly recorded in the Babylonian star catalogues before 1000 BCE.
An earth sign, Capricorn is ruled by the planet Saturn along with Aquarius. In India, when the Sun enters the Capricorn sign, the zodiac sign is celebrated as the Makara Sankranti festival, also known in Nepal as Maghe Sankranti.
