Julia Felix

Minaret

Album cover for Minaret (2019) by Julia Felix. A grand mosque with ornate minarets and a central dome rises against a dramatic sky of golden clouds and deep blue. To the right, a long yellow building with arched windows extends the architectural narrative. The paved ground reflects the light, adding warmth and depth. Framed by a decorative border, the image blends spiritual grandeur with painterly stylization, evoking themes of elevation, reverence, and historical resonance.

Released in 2019, Minaret L.P. marks the first official full‑length by Julia Felix. The album moves through shifting currents of ambient and experimental expression, drawing on everything from field‑recorded fragments to traces of pop, jazz, and rock refracted into unfamiliar shapes.

Its themes wander widely: carbon as a living archive, synchronicity as a quiet form of communication, stars behaving like witnesses, and apparitions that appear in mirrors despite not being there. Other pieces drift toward the occult and the folkloric — black djinn, citadels at the edge of perception, the poison‑craft of Santau — while certain passages echo the dreamlike intensity found in Mati Klarwein’s art.

Minaret L.P. stands as an early but fully formed statement from Julia Felix, charting a path between the physical and the metaphysical, the observed and the imagined.
