Cancer [कर्क (karka); quality movable] originates in the constellation of Cancer and is the fourth sign in the Zodiac. The constellation spans from 90° to 120° celestial longitude. Based on the Greek myth, the symbol of Cancer is based on the Karkinos, a crab that was crushed under the foot of Hercules, and whose remains were placed in the sky by Hera, forming the constellation of Cancer. Under the tropical zodiac, the sun transits this area between approximately June 22 and July 22. Belonging to the triplicity of the water trigon, Cancer is a cardinal water sign.

One of four elemental trigons in the zodiac is the water trigon, the other three being fire, earth, and air. Due to the negative associations with the word "Cancer", astrologers refer to Cancerians as “moon children”. In Hindu astrology the sign of Cancer is named Karka and its Lord is Moon. Cancers ruling planet is the Moon. Cancer is said to be the house of Neptune and the exaltation of Jupiter.

Perceived as “pushing the sun across the heavens” which initiates the summer solstice, in early history the sign of Cancer was represented as a turtle in Mesopotamia, and as a scarab beetle in Egyptian culture.

Cancer is the eighth release in this astronomically (astrologically) themed 10 Echo Production series. The songs traverse contrasting landscapes of sound, creating unique portals which lead into sonic dreams.

Featuring the bonus material, “When Arietis, Virgineus, Piscis, Sagittarius and Geminorum has encircled the Sun” which was taken from the Akashic series release, 2018’s Compendium of The Akashic Processions and Ancillaries; and the track, “Assimilation”, an interpretation and response to the Ov Moi Omm track, “Interovmoiommosis” taken from 2021’s Interovmoiommosis Ep.

As a further added bonus, three unreleased tracks! The track, “Nothing” and two tracks, “Archy is my metal Archaeopteryx” and “Archy becomes a hero”. These two intertwined tracks were inspired by an old Amon Düül II tune called “Archy the Robot” from the 1974 Lp Hijack about a mischievous toy robot who kidnaps and humiliates the devil to great applaud and is now out for God. The reason none of these bonus tracks made the cut for the Cancer album was that they (concepts) simply didn’t fit.

*Found during excavations in Turkey around 1883, the Seikilos epitaph, is recognized as being the oldest surviving complete musical composition found so far including text, melodic and rhythmic notation. 

**panem et circenses - "Bread and circuses" is a metonymic phrase referring to superficial appeasement. It is attributed to Juvenal, a Roman poet active in the late first and early second century CE. It was Juvenal that coined this system, a mechanism of influential power over the Roman mass. "Panem et Circensus", was the formula for the well-being of the population, and thus a political strategy.

*** Nearly a billion light years across and found in the vicinity of the constellation Boötes, the void is empty of both normal matter and dark matter but contain a sprinkling of galaxies arranged in a tubular shape. The Boötes void is an actual void in space, The Great Nothing, a supervoid. Located in the constellation Pisces, MCG+01-02-015, is a spiral void galaxy with no other galaxies around 100 million light-years in all directions.
