Mechanics

ICDC’s Mechanic’s follows the 2016 release Objet d’art, continuing the project’s movement through experimental electronic and ambient forms. This album feels more investigative than its predecessor, shaped by a fascination with how knowledge, belief, and observation intersect.
Several tracks point directly to these inquiries:
“Archaeoastronomy,” a meditation on ancient sky‑reading; “Apo‑Cephalex,” a piece that hints at biological drift and altered states; “The Fermi Paradox,” which considers the silence of the cosmos; and “The Sentinelese in the North Andaman Islands,” a reflection on isolation, contact, and the limits of understanding. The album closes with “Evolutionary Psychology,” a work that turns inward, examining the patterns and impulses that shape human behavior.
Mechanic’s stands as a more focused and contemplative chapter in ICDC’s catalog — an album that treats sound as a tool for examining the structures behind perception, culture, and the mysteries that remain unresolved.
