Yellow Omm

Konx Om Pax

Artwork for Konx Om Pax – “Yellow Omm”. The image features a cityscape viewed through a smudged window, with partial reflections adding an abstract layer. Prominent buildings include a yellow-striped high-rise and a white structure with a dark roof in the foreground. The scene is tinted in vivid blues and greens, creating a surreal atmosphere. Stylized text in the top right corner reads “YELLOW OMM” in yellow and “KONX OM PAX” in red.

Released in 2014, Konx Omm Pax marks a pivotal early statement from Yellow Omm, presenting a wide‑ranging investigation into the possibilities of sound as both ritual and experiment. Across sixteen tracks, the album moves fluidly through electronic structures, jazz‑inflected improvisation, industrial abrasion, dance‑driven momentum, and the gleaming artifice of Italian disco, all while maintaining a distinctly exploratory ethos.

Rather than treating genre as a fixed boundary, Konx Omm Pax approaches each stylistic mode as a field of inquiry — a set of textures, rhythms, and cultural residues to be reconfigured. The result is a work that feels simultaneously referential and disruptive, drawing from metal’s density, noise’s volatility, and electronic music’s architectural precision to construct a soundworld that is both expansive and deliberately unstable.

Konx Omm Pax stands as an early articulation of Yellow Omm’s interdisciplinary approach, a release that treats musical form as a mutable medium through which illumination, distortion, and transformation can occur.

Konx Om Pax, the Egyptian language, Khabs-am Pekht, meaning “Light in extension”. This origin and meaning of the phrase is obscure, although numerous theories have been proposed like in the Eleusinian Mysteries, the phrase was used to bid initiates to depart after having completed the tests for admission to the degree of epopt (seer). A publication in 1907 by British occultist Aleister Crowley, Konx Om Pax: Essays in Light, its cover image, portrays the title Konx Om Pax in stretched letters, and is said to have been designed by Crowley while smoking hashish.
