Irama Gema
"In brief, if you could look down from the moon, as Menippus once did, and see the innumerable broils of mortals, you would think you were looking at a great cloud of flies or gnats quarreling among themselves, warring, plotting, plundering, playing, frisking, being born, declining, dying. It is downright incredible what tumults, what tragedies can be stirred up by such a tiny creature, so frail and short-lived." - Desiderius Erasmus
Irama Gema—Bahasa for Echo Rhythm—emerged from southern Ontario as a brief collaborative experiment before settling into its long‑standing form as a solo project. What began as an exchange between two artists with roots in the Harold era soon shifted into a singular voice, carrying forward the project’s early curiosity while charting its own path.
Since the release of Experiment I, Irama Gema has explored the meeting point between electronic expression and global musical traditions. The project draws from ritual cadence, drifting atmospheres, and the subtle pulse of distant cultures, shaping works that feel both intimate and borderless. Each release functions as a study in resonance—how rhythm travels, transforms, and reappears in unexpected forms.
Within the broader Om Pharaoh Records mythos, Irama Gema occupies a reflective space: an interpreter of echoes, a translator of patterns, and a quiet thread connecting the label’s experimental lineage to wider histories of sound and movement. Its catalogue stands as an evolving archive of cross‑cultural inquiry, always listening for what lingers beneath the surface.
“Insults are the arguments employed by those who are in the wrong“. - Jean-Jacques Rousseau
