A newly remastered selection from Harold’s 1993 rehearsal cassette is now available. Originally recorded in preparation for a local show, these tracks capture the band during their brief but active period on the fringes of the early ’90s Durham Region scene.
The release also includes a restored version of Ecstasies from the 1994 compilation Dysfunctional Blender: A Compilation of Local Talent, along with two videos that appear on the OPR website, set to music.
The cassette source has been cleaned and maximized at Silas Langley Circle Sound — a name inspired by Syd Barrett’s Swan Lee (Silas Lang). While the limitations of the original tape remain, the remaster brings greater clarity to a recording that was never meant to survive this long. Several other Harold cassettes once existed, including a recording of the actual show, but those tapes have been lost to time.
What remains is still very much a cassette document — preserved rather than polished.
